How Many Ways Is This Wrong?

Let me get this straight; you feel more secure about your gold having it in a place that only Superman can reach? And while you're transporting it across the country, you've got it in trucks marked "GOLD"?

As it turns out, this has almost nothing to do with the plot; it's a way of explaining why Superman and Batman are away from Earth for a few days.

Hey, I kind of remember this story. Gotta love the Silver Age :)

What a dumb idea...those countries won't be able to collect interest if their money's in space!

Something tells me that there might be some raised eyebrows when Clark Kent shows up at the Planet on Monday with a Mr. T level of bling hanging around his neck...

For some reason this makes me flash on the tale of Pee-Wee Ragan in "Superboy" #110. The young crook comes upon a pit-vault of treasure protected by robot sentries on an empty planet.

I have some vague feeling there are other instances of great treasure sitting on the corner of Nowhere and Where-are-we.

I'm thinking Earth hiding its gold in the distant reaches of space is the first step in joining the interstellar community. Something many of them do.
